Wordless Wednesday

Saturday, November 15, 2008

I have more to post about her birthday, but this is going to be a busy week so I'm not sure when I will get to it. I just wanted to at least make mention that our little girl is three today. She is definitely more demanding, dramatic, high-pitched, and persistent than any of her brothers but she is also so loving, observant, happy, helpful, friendly and much more. She makes us want to pull our hair out and yet she cracks us up and is always ready for a kiss and a cuddle. She adds so much life and color to our world and we can't imagine our family without her.

Sam's been wanting me to get these pictures of her posted because of her poofy hair. If you noticed the nobs in her hair on the Wednesday post, this is the aftermath!

Sam on stage

Some of the other dances include the Relief Society doing a Hula, the Young Men leaders doing a stick dance and I can't remember what the High Priests was but it was more of a yell than a dance and Sam did the slap dance with the Elders quorum as seen above (I also have video if anyone really wants to see it!). It was so impressive to see so many of the ward members involved. Sam also did his own demonstration of the poi balls and then brought people up to try it. He did such a great job, he had everyone laughing and he is just so comfortable on stage plus he did the tricks well so I think everyone loved him (sorry I didn't get any good pictures, it was too dark and too far).

Ward Luau

Our ward just had the best ward luau ever! It was so much fun, we all thought the activity chair was crazy when she wanted all the auxilaries to dance with such short notice but she really pulled it off and she had Polynesians from the ward and her family participate as well with stories and food and dancing. I had a lot of fun doing the Tahitian dance, it was fun to spend the time with friends learning it and it was fun to perform. I'm really glad I had the chance to be a part of it, it's been a long time since I performed at anything and it was such a rush. I don't mean to say that I was good, because I'm sure I was still awkward, but I plastered on my "big drill team smile," without even thinking about it, just by force of habit, and had a blast! They even had babysitting which is a huge undertaking in a ward with so many young kids. The whole time we were getting ready to go we were talking about the dancing and Eden told us she wanted to dance. As we were driving home, she was talking about what she did in her class, but then she got a really sad voice and said "but I didn't get to dance in my class." I guess she thought that everyone would be dancing and had been looking forward to it. I promised that we would dance another time.

I finally feel like I am making headway on the packing. I'm finding it much more difficult than in the past, could it be that I am packing for seven this time? I actually consider myself to be a pretty good packer, not neatly necessarily, but I have done it so much that I have it down to a science. In the first 6 years of our marriage we moved 10 times so I have figured some things out, but the last time I packed us was 4 years ago and 2 less people (the company moved us for the last move so I didn't have to pack!) I think the hardest part to deal with is that so much life still has to go on. When I just had three little boys, they napped, I fed them chicken nuggets, they played with toys and watched some shows and then went back to sleep. It's not like that anymore. These kids need books to read for school, scout shirts, variety in their meals, and much more but I'm too tired to think of anything else interesting or maybe even witty so I'll just stop myself.

The other difference can't be helped, we don't have family nearby for the everyday stuff. I have had some offers for help from some great people in the ward and I will very likely take them up on that next week but it can't help but be different and I also feel a bit lonely. I've been so focused on getting it all done that I haven't seen people or talked to people much at all, that's just not usually me at all, I need people!

Anyway, I have packed all of Eden's room except for the clothes, all of the loft, some of the boys room and we got rid of the bulky bunkbed thing that they were destroying. I've also done the living room, Brady's closet and the family room although that is not saying much because those don't include much, but it does feel like I'm getting somewhere.

I'm just starting to stress about all the little details now. In fact, right now, I shouldn't be doing this, I still have a list of about 6 more things to do tonight before I got to bed, but this is what keeps happening, I keep getting distracted when I start one thing and then think of another. I just stopped here to check an email real fast and then realized that I felt like unloading a bit.

I did finish cookies for celebrating Eden's birthday at joy school tomorrow, I actually asked Sam if he would do that, but he is fast asleep in the recliner in front of the TV. I also made the kids lunches and calculated the costs of switching our phone, internet, cable services when we move so I've been able to cross off three things but I still need to send a b-day card to my brother, cut fliers that I need to deliver to the school tomorrow, get something ready for a birthday tradition for Eden's upcoming birthday, take some things to the mailbox, put the cookies away, and get some laundry going. Nothing too bad so I better get to it.

Oh, but one more thing, I think Eden has realized, this week, that we are distracted and taken full advantage of it. On Saturday when we were packing, she first got a purple highlighter and colored all over her arms, then she dropped moonsand (a sandy, play-dough type substance) all over the computer desk and keyboard and floor, and then she got into the Desitin and covered herself almost head-to-toe. Do you think someone is calling for attention?

Strike a pose

These are probably not that exciting to everyone else, but they make me laugh, I was trying to get a picture to use as the wallpaper on my phone so I told Eden to dance

First haircut

When my mom was here we went to get her haircut at our friend Julie's house. When Eden heard we were going she asked to have her's cut as well. I told her she had to ask Julie and we thought she would chicken out, but she did it and so we have the first haircut. I didn't even have my camera because I wasn't expecting it but luckily I had my phone and Julie is going to send me some pictures from her camera. Basically all she cut off was the straggly baby hair, but Eden was so excited to have her own haircut for the first time.

Tucker getting comfy

I just noticed that I have a few pictures on my phone that I've been meaning to post about, so that will be the next few posts. Sorry if they are a bit blurry, you can't always tell on the phone.

There is a great family that almost always takes Tucker for most of church. They even get him to sleep and I am grateful for their help. This is one week that I was actually in Relief Society and just had to get a picture of Tucker sprawled out on her lap!

Rainy weekend

I just realized that I had this saved as a draft and I never posted it. The weekend before last we went up to Sac. to visit with Deveren and Bailie and Sam's parents. It was a rainy weekend so Eden insisted on her rain jacket and boots, the only problem was that she couldn't find two matching boots, but it didn't stop her! She also had a lot of fun playing with Bailie, I think she liked being the older girl for a change and taking the lead and Bailie didn't seem to mind. I also got a chance to spend some time with some of my friends and Sam got soaked at a Berkley game with his friends. Even though it was a rainy weekend, it was a fun weekend.

Deveren's art

My brother-in-law Deveren does really cool metal art. They just started a blog to show his art pieces you can check it out here and it has a link to his website where you can see more detail. The first picture here is one he did for a business and the second one is Brady's favorite so that's why I picked it but he has a lot more. Go check it out and tell your friends and family!

In the box

So I'm sorry to disappoint those of you with grand speculations but our news isn't quite that exciting! We are moving, we just found a better deal on a house almost the same size in the area so we are making the move. We weren't even really looking for it, it just sort of fell in our laps and we couldn't pass it up. I was waiting until we gave notice to post about it, but now it is happening and I am already starting to pack and I'm about to go crazy, but I will survive it somehow!

Eden's halloween

Eden was sick on Thursday and missed her joy school party. When she came downstairs she asked for breakfast but then fell asleep on the table while she waited. Later in the day, she said "I better, I go to school now" "I go to the party now" she just couldn't understand that it was already finished and she didn't get to show anyone her dragon scales in her hair.

The night of Halloween she changed her mind again and dressed as the pumpkin pooh bear and had fun trick-r-treating with my sister and Jessica.

The Halloween gang

I only took pictures of them all together in the morning before we headed off to watch the boys walk in the school costume parade. I wish I took more skunk pictures, you can't even tell how cute he was!
