I know, I know

I know it has been a while since I posted anything. Also, Sam keeps reminding me that I need to clean up my list of blogs on the side, but I can't seem to keep up, I'm going to try and at least get something up here in the next few days but also if you have a blog and I don't have you listed, let me know so I can add you to the list. I already know of a few of you but I don't want to forget any. I also know there are a few outdated links too. I'll get to it soon, I promise! I am teaching joy school this week, so hopefully when that is done I'll be able to focus better!

Synchronized Swimming Skit

Talent Show

We had a ward talent show a few weeks ago. We were so excited to be a part of it because we have been talking about what we would do for a ward talent show skit since we got married. It was especially fun to have Sam’s parents and grandparents there because Jordan’s baptism was the next day. If you know us well, you know we wouldn’t do anything serious, well unless we were doing something in sign language, but we wanted to do something funny this time. We based it off the evolution of dance videos on youtube and called it the Evolution of the Church Dance. We started at in the far apart slow dance position with slow music but then broke off into a dance off. Sam said his favorite part was when I broke out into Vanilla Ice’s moves for Ice Ice Baby but I liked when he did the Thriller moves. Anyway, we weren’t sure we were doing it up to the afternoon before so we were only practiced it together for a total of 20 minutes, but it still turned out to be a lot of fun. I actually do have video of it but its not digital so I will post it if I ever get it transferred, but I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to actually watch myself.
We also set up a skit for some of the men to do, it was synchronized swimming. I watched some of the swimming skits on youtube and choreographed the moves to different music. It was hard to get them all together to practice but they pulled it off really well, it was the hit of the night, we still have some of the older people in the ward asking us about youtube as they have never used it before and telling us they showed all their friends. Now we just need to figure out how to top it for next year! I will include the clip on another post because I’ve never used video on the blog before so it may take me a bit. Also, the synchro pictures came from April’s blog because my camera was full.

Pay it forward

Pay it Forward!!

Lucky you! The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It'll be done this year. {might be a little while}
4. You will have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or maybe even some creation I haven't even invented yet (but Heaven knows it will most likely be totally fabulous and creative... :). I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog.

Scripture time

Eden did her first assignment in primary last Sunday. We practiced D&C 88:119 all week. She could say it clearly and she was very excited to sit up front and then give the scripture. Sam and I walked in with Tucker and he went running up to Eden into her open arms and gave her a big hug and then went to sit on the little sunbeam chairs where her class was, acting like such a big boy. When it was finally her turn, she got up with a huge smile on her face and whispered or mumbled the scripture the whole way through. Even though the rest of the primary couldn't really understand the scripture unless they heard me, she was quite happy and proud of herself and we were proud of her as well. Plus, I had to post these pictures because I thought the two of them were so cute that day!

Just Jordan

I've been putting off the post about Jordan's baptism because I want to do it right, but I just need to get right down to it. I took these pictures in the morning at our house before we left for the baptism. I just love them because they totally capture Jordan and all his personality.

We are so proud of him and his decision to be baptized. In his interview the Bishop asked him if it was his decision, not his parents making him and he said he knew for sure it was the right decision.

It was a great day and so fun to see all the family and friends that came and especially the ones that helped with the program and food after and came from great distances. It was also neat to share the day with such great friends of ours. One of our closest family friends had a daughter get baptized also and she is one of Jordan's closest friends. Sam was able to sign a song while the other dad was singing and it was really neat. Jordan particularly asked his Great Grandma Borgia to do a talk because they share a birthday and the kids enjoyed listening and participating.
I'll post the rest of the pictures on another post.

Since this is a post about random things, I figured I would post a random picture to go with it. This is just the 25 random things tag that everyone has been posting on facebook but I thought it would be fun to include on the blog as well:
1. I love mint and chocolate together, especially mint three musketeers or peppermint patties but please tell Santa that it is not the only thing I want in my stocking.

2. I have eaten camel meat after I rode a camel into the desert behind the Great Egyptian pyramids.

3. I can do the splits at any given time.

4. I was voted “Most Likely to Drive on the Sidewalk” in high school

5. I constantly dream of having a housekeeper

6. I love to dance and wish I had the time and money to try all kinds of dance and I especially miss the rush of performing.

7. So you think you can dance is my favorite show.

8. I think that I’m pretty creative but I’m very lazy when it comes to implementing it so I just like to give others ideas and let them do the work, except for planning games, I’m always willing to do that.

9. I tend to win baby shower games, I’ve come home with a lot of candles and lotions!

10. I love to learn and wish that I could get paid to be a full time college student

11. I hate calling people for anything, I avoid it like the plague however I don’t mind it all if people call me

12. My favorite movie is “Meet Me in St. Louis” but “Annie” runs a close second, but overall I’m not much of a movie person

13. When I was 5 I thought I sounded like Annie so I dubbed myself into the tape recording we had of the soundtrack

14. I want to take Sam to Jerusalem someday to share with him all the great experiences I had when I did study abroad.

15. I love to shop at thrift stores.

16. I declared accounting as my major when I started at BYU but ended up with a degree in family science and loved every minute of it.

17. I haven’t worked in almost ten years but when I did I worked for a podiatrist, at Sizzler, after school care, BYU bookstore, TA for two different BYU professors, and DeAnza College distance learning.

18. I tend to close my eyes when a ball is thrown at me, so I’ve never been much of a sports person.

19. We have lived in 12 houses in the 10 years that we have been married

20. I often wish I was more outgoing or better at talking to people instead of worrying too much about what people think

21. Finding a bargain or good sale excites me!

22. Sam and I love to go to plays and musicals and really any date we can manage to get out.

23. I love to host parties with Sam but I hate to host things by myself.

24. I love girls nights or just chatting with the girls.

25. I have so many wonderful people in my life, family and friends that are a large part of who I am.

Pinewood Derby Again

We reached that time of year again. It was Jordan's first year for pinewood derby and he was so excited. They each had fun designing their cars this year (and Sam got a little to into it) but they all definitely went into it with more knowledge than last year (see last years post to see what I mean).

It was fun to see the two boys work on it together.
Brady was very happy to come in third place overall and Jordan was happy that his did wheelies sometimes. We also had to include a couple pictures of the cool cars some of their friends made.

We had Deia and Eli there with us for the weekend. The boys enjoyed having them there and they were really good to hang around and watch and help out with the little kids.

Nonsense Party

We did Jordan's birthday party a few weeks after his birthday to have time to recover from the holidays. He informed us that he did not want any plan for his party just a lot of playing and food. We decided to call it a nonsense party and we just had video games, board games and art stuff available along with pizza and snacks. I felt bad for the few kids that weren't interested in video games because that is what the majority wanted to do, but Sam did have a paper airplane contest that drew them away from the video games for a while. The kids did seem to have a lot of fun and Jordan got the party he wanted with all of his friends.
