Puppet Shows

A few weeks ago, Eden decided to do a puppet show for me. She was so cute, she actually hid behind the chair and moved the puppies mouth the right was as she sang, "I am a Child of God" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and a few more songs. When it came time to do a little talent show for joy school I had forgotten about that and I asked her if she would like to sing a song or do a dance or something and she immediately responded with "puppet show." She did the same thing for her friends, but with two puppets and it was too sweet!

Family Fun Night

A few weeks ago, we found that we had nothing going on, on a Saturday evening so we decided to plan a family fun night. Each of the kids got to pick one game and one treat. Eden and Kolby both picked lollipops and we played Candyland and Blokus. Jordan wanted dirt cups and to play Apples to Apples Jr. (which I lost at badly!) and Brady just wanted candy and we didn't get to his game because it was too late to start Monopoly. We also had oreos as Sam's request and a few other snacks we had around the house. It was a lot of fun and Kolby gave me a thank you note the next day, which makes it all the more worth it!

magnet art

Eden and Kolby were playing with the magnetic toys for a while the other day. When they had one figure done, I heard Eden say: "Now make Heavenly Father" and Kolby made it, but then Eden said: "no, with a frame like Jesus." I thought it was so cute that they had made Heavenly Father and Jesus that I decided to make a picture, but Kolby wouldn't let me until he had put grass under their feet first! Kolby is always happiest when he is doing some kind of art and it was especially cute to see them working on it together.

Tea Party

Eden got all dolled up to go to her friend's birthday "tea party" recently!

Video Game Creator

Brady and Jordan had their blue and gold dinner for cub scouts a few weeks ago. They had to make a cake that had to do with what they want to be when they grow up. Sam had plans to help them really do up their cakes the way they imagined but he ended up having to work so they decided to just do one together since they both want to be the same thing -- video game creators! The just turned the sheet cake into a Nintendo DS. It was definitely not the fanciest cake there, but it was cute and they did it themselves and I am proud of them.

Soccer Camp

The boys participated in a really fun soccer camp a few weeks ago. They had a great time. Kolby actually said he didn't like it the first two days but after that he loved it and he really liked being with his best friend Katelynn and having his school teacher as his coach. He really gets into the game. Brady discovered that he really likes defense and he is good at it too. Jordan is more of an observer but he still has a lot of fun.

The place we sat to watch was at the top of a hill so Eden spent a lot of time rolling down the hill.

Tucker had the most funning getting in and out of the little chair while we watched!

I love signs of spring...

...on my wall (Kolby made this calendar for me for Christmas),
...leftover in the baskets,
...out my front window,

...and out my back window,

...on my counter,
...and especially in my bowl! (and I made it myself this time, not Sam!)

An early birthday present

I have been saying for years that I would like a piano. I only play a tiny bit but I still think it is fun and I really want my kids to have a chance to learn. This year I told Sam that I wanted him to get me one of the free pianos I always see listed for my birthday. He decided the free ones weren't nice enough but he managed to find this one at a thrift store in really great shape and it was delivered on Monday.

The kids and I have been playing around with it a lot. I normally would not put this picture of myself but Sam was so excited about me playing it Monday night that he took some and I figured I better include it since he gave me such a great gift (try not to notice my former ponytail hair!) I did have a lot of fun picking through with my right hand, some of the easy primary songs.

Eden also likes me to turn to a primary song and tell her which one it is and then she thinks she is playing it while she or I sing it. All the kids are really excited about it and I can't wait to get them started with lessons.

Thank you Sam, it is one of the best birthday presents ever!

Easter Weekend

Sam's parents and little brother and sister came for Easter weekend. They joined us for the ward activity and then Deia watched all the kids while we went out to dinner and a play. We actually went to a high school showing of the Crucible that was directed by my MIL's friend from her high school drama days and they recently connected on facebook. It turned out to be pretty good and it was fun to have two date nights in a row (I'll post about Fri. night later after I get some pictures from my sister)

On Sunday Sam cooked a great dinner with ham and cheesy potatoes and homemade rolls. Afterwards, we played Rook as usual, and Tucker was so cute trying to play with us!

The hunt...times three!

Our kids were lucky enough to participate in three egg hunts this year! The first was the community egg hunt. As this was the first Easter event of the year, they were excited to get the baskets out and we all walked over to the park. Tucker was so excited, he wouldn't let go of the basket and also liked sticking it over his head.

They had the hunt divided up by age, so I took Tucker to the toddler section. I didn't get to see the other kids but it was fun to see Tucker participating in his first hunt. We found several of his little friends from the ward to stand with while we waited for it to start!

The whole hunt was done in less than 5 minutes! Tucker walked out, picked up the first egg in front of him, looked at it for a minute until I got him to put it in his basket and by then it was done, there were no eggs left! Its a good thing Tucker was happy to just get one and especially good that he didn't even notice it was empty! The boys did better this year because they learned the trick of running to the back first.

The second hunt was at the ward activity in front of the church. There was a little spring fling carnival first that was fun for the kids and then out to hunt eggs. There were plenty of eggs at this one and the kids had fun. Deia helped Eden and Sam helped Tucker.

The final hunt was at home after church. Eden discovered it and ran wide-eyed to the back door!

Tucker had the hang of it by the third time so after gathering a few, he started hiding them again!
