darling Eden

Don't let her sweet expression fool you!!! There is a whole lot of attitude in there too! She has been quite sassy lately, but of course she can also be very sweet too, I think this conversation I had with her in the car the other day covers a bit of both:
E: I see a handsome man with a sheep and a dog
M: what did you say?
E: a handsome man with a sheep and a dog
M: did you say handsome?
E: yes handsome, its a handsome man
M:What makes him handsome
E: he has a nice car
M: what kind of car
E: a nice big one, it's a motorcycle

I don't know where she got that one from!

Minnesota Sunday

We did take a trip for my mom and my sister's birthday just to go shopping a the Mall of America but we took Sunday off from shopping. We found the local ward and stopped by for a visit. We were hoping to just sneak in the back and rush out after but there was no room in the back and we ended up in the middle, but that turned out to be fine. Once the meeting started I felt right at home, its nice to be in other wards sometime and be reminded that the spirit is always the same and I was happy to be there. After church we did a bit of sightseeing. We drove around looking for the Mary Tyler Moore statue and after a bit of confusion, we finally found it and got some pictures. We then set out to find a sculpture garden I had read about. It was a nice little park that we could walk around and look at the sculptures and a flower garden.

We then headed to St. Paul to see the temple. It was nice and quiet and it is one of the smaller temples on the same lot as a church building.

We then headed back for some relaxing at the hotel, a bit of swimming, some card games and lots of reading!

The new dress

I went up to an event with Sam in Sacramento a few weeks ago. It was nice to get out and be an adult and see Sam in action with all his work peers, plus he did the National Anthem in sign language, which is always fun. I tried hard not to be as reserved/shy as I usually am at those types of things and I think I did pretty well. We sat with the mc who happens to be a local news anchor and we had fun chatting about our families. I had to get a new dress, of course, and a few of you wanted to see the dress so here it is! Brady took the first picture so it is a bit blurry, but you get the idea!

School Auction

Just a random picture I found on my camera of the basket I did for the school Luau raffle. Due to some coaxing from my great friend that helps me be involved, I volunteered to do the basket for Brady's class. We had several items left from the pencil drive that weren't actually what was requested, but worked perfectly for a school supply basket. Not the most beautiful basket ever, but I think it turned out OK!

Friday Fill-Ins

I haven't done this in a while, but I thought this was a fun one today, especially since I haven't posted anything a while.

And...here we go!
1. Moving is a huge pain even though we should be experienced after having moved 12 times in our 11 years of marriage already.
2. I LOVE getting things that are free.
3. My best quality is my memory?
4. I often worry way too much about the details.
5. In nearly 10 years, I have moved 9 times, given birth to 5 kids naturally, had at least 8 different cars, traveled in 8 states, had 4 garage sales, and lived in 10 wards and wouldn't have had it any other way.
6. A housekeeper is what I need right now!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to who knows what, tomorrow my plans include whatever we come up with since we have nothing on the agenda so far and Sunday, I want to enjoy church, and Monday I guess we'll have a BBQ!

fruit salad

One day Kolby started out cutting some strawberries for himself and then he decided he wanted to turn it into a fruit salad so he started looking around for fruit but all he could find was tangerines so he cut those up too but still felt he needed more. He decided to add carrots to his fruit salad so he spent a lot of time cutting up baby carrots to add. It's not the combination I would prefer but he spent a lot of time getting it all together and then ate the whole thing! Silly Kolby!

Haircut

You know I hate putting pictures of myself, but I had to mention as part of my birthday present Sam scheduled a haircut for me so this is the results. I think I like it but I don't think I ever get it to look as cute as it did when the hairdresser styled it!

Garage Cleaning

Last Saturday we spent most of the day working on the garage. The boys were really helpful, especially Brady for part of the day. Jordan was climbing into this big box to gather things for us.

Kolby found some of Sam's old sunglasses and thought he looked pretty cool. He kept them on the rest of the day either in his eyes or on top of his head, even when we went to Chili's for dinner.

Sam was listening to his ipod while he worked and Tucker kept insisting on listening too. Usually he would get right up next to Sam and it was really cute but of course when I finally got the camera, he wouldn't strike his post anymore!

It was fun to all work together and a great feeling to get it completed! Now onto the garage sale!

Eleven or Fifteen - Flashback Friday

It's anniversary time again. We've been married 11 years today and I think it has just flow by! I was reminded that we actually got together (as in he asked me to "go" with him or be steady) 15 years ago today. The first picture is our Jr. Prom right after we became steady and Sam was being goofy as usual, which is one of the things that drew me to him!

I just had to include the second picture because that is just the look I always remember from high school, also notice that he does not have a serious look in any of these pictures. This one was right after we graduated!

For our wedding announcement we took a bunch of pictures and this was just one of the fun ones! In the past 11 or 15 or more years, Sam still always keeps me laughing and we have so much fun together. He is still my best friend! Happy Anniversary Sam!

My birthday

I had a wonderful birthday a couple of weeks ago. I'm a little late posting this because I started getting sick that evening and ended up completely laid out for a week and still a bit sick for the following week, so I'm finally catching up a bit. The day started with breakfast in bed from the kids and they each got me some gifts (a rice cooker, and electric can opener, some candy and the Mama Mia soundtrack!) so it was a nice morning. In the afternoon Sam has scheduled a babysitter and he surprised me with a pedicure and manicure and he even got a pedicure himself (see the Wordless Wednesday post!). We then set off to meet up with our friends for dinner, I share a birthday with one of our closest friends here so it is always fun to get to go out together. We went to this restaurant called Magellen's that was so good. We had crab cakes as an appetizer and I ordered duck for my meal just to try something different! Sam had invited a bunch of people (although I would probably have included more) like we usually do but somehow we almost always end up with these three couples, but thats alright because we have such a great time together! After dinner we headed back to our house for games and a few more friends were able to join us for some fun times! Thank you to Sam and everyone else that made my birthday such a special day!

Cinco De Mayo

Being a first grader, it was Kolby's turn this year to do the Mexican Hat Dance for Cinco De Mayo. He was so cute dancing with his favorite friend Katelynn!

They also did the Macarena (no idea how to spell that!) which was even cuter, although I think he was a little embarrassed to shake his hips!

We didn't do much else to celebrate the day other than Taco Bell for dinner, a way in which the kids were perfectly happy to celebrate!

Just a little more Easter

The week before Easter, Jessica was on spring break so she and Laura came down to visit for a few days. While the boys were in school we headed out to some thrift stores which Jessica did not want to go to at first but ended up loving it. I was just looking for a new backpack for Jordan which I did find for 25 cents but I also ended up with a lot of other fun stuff including some really cute, like new red shoes! One of the coolest things about when they come is that they always let Sam and I have a date while they do fun things with the kids. This time the colored Easter eggs while Sam and I had a great date to the temple and out to eat at this fun Italian restaurant with some of our friends. As I sat in the temple I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude to be there with Sam and to have such good friends that could be there with us and for other great friends and for our family that help us out and the ones we don't get to see often and for this wonderful world that has been created for us. I'm really glad we had the chance to go.

And obviously the kids had a great time doing the eggs and hanging out with Laura and Jessica!

Flashback Friday-Drill Team

There have been several high school pictures posted on facebook this week and it made me decide to pull out some albums and see what I can contribute. Most of my pictures are in boxes in the garage somewhere but I have a few random albums and that I took to college with me or are left from high school that have a few HS pictures. If you knew me in high school you know that drill team was a huge part of my HS experience so I decided to focus on the pictures I have from drill trips for this flashback. I'll just put a few of my favorites here, but if you want to see more check facebook soon! I think the above picture is either from my Jr. or Sr. year.
Every year our drill team did one big trip. My freshman year was to perform at Epcot Center at Disneyworld. We spent a lot of time eating which is why I like that picture!

We also had a trip to LA everyear for competition which always included a trip to Disneyland, the picture above is from the hotel during one of those trips!

My second big trip was on a Cruise to Catalina Island and Mexico, we had fun playing on the beach at Catalina and we all fried! It was not good for wearing our formals that night for the Captain's dinner.

Junior year, we went to Canada to dance in parade. We had a lot of fun, we took all kinds of pictures on that trip, it was hard to narrow it down, but above is on the bus on the way to a dance and below is in some gardens in Victoria.

The best trip of all was Hawaii our Senior year. Above is all the Seniors (we thought we were so cool) and below was trying on some outfits at Hilo Hatie's wearhouse (I think!), I do remember that there were several of us LDS girls on that trip and we tried our hardest to let those guys at the PCC know that we were LDS too! Come to think of it, all of our trips involved a lot of flirting! Iguess thats what high school girls do! I'm so glad I got to have all of those wonderful experiences in high school with great friends, a great team and a great advisor!
