Surprise

Brady turned 10 last weekend. On Friday afternoon, Sam told Brady to get in the car to go to the store with him. After about 45 minutes of getting gas and driving, Brady started to ask questions. Sam said he was first trying to figure out what store they were going to and then maybe somewhere for dinner and Sam was only answering yes or no questions. Finally he figured out it was a surprise and after a few more questions he said, "Does it start with a "D"? Sam said yes and he got a huge grin on his face. "Is the next letter "i"?, Sam said yes and said where is it and Brady wouldn't actually say it, but he knew and was giddy with excitement which is a lot for Brady who doesn't generally express a lot of excitement!

After Splash Mountain, it was a bit of a mistake to do that so early in the morning, especially since Brady wanted Sam to go in front!

The day before, when Brady had no idea about the planned trip, Sam asked him what he wanted for his birthday breakfast. He said pancakes and Sam said "how about Mickey pancakes!" little did he know!

Brady got to pick everything he wanted to do and once he knew where they were going, they planned out the whole day in the car on the way.

Lunch at the Blue Bayou in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (I think Sam might have influenced that decision a bit since its his favorite!)

Sam and Brady had a great day at Disneyland and were happy to spend that special time together!

Lemon cake

Couldn't forget to post some pictures of the cake that Brady requested. We had a quick little celebration the day they got back because Jordan was concerned when he found out Brady was in Disneyland, that he wouldn't get to celebrate with him. As soon as Brady got home, Eden exclaimed, "Let's get this party started!" He also had another family celebration the next weekend in Sac. and Sam was able to go and celebrate with him at school and read the first chapter of the BFG to the class.

Another school year has begun

Another year and another new school. The boys started in the area we are moving to and are staying with grandparents and commuting on the weekends for now. It's crazy but it seems to be working OK so far and they seem to like the new school. It is a Montessori charter so Brady and Jordan are together and they really like that. So here's our traditional first day of school pictures in front of the door!

End of summer

One day I realized that summer was ending and I notice the kids were all playing and it was just one of those rare ideal relaxed summer days so I had to take some pictures!

He can see

One day this summer we were sitting in the car and Brady said, "why does that sign say..." and I don't remember what he said but it was not what the sign said so I started asking him about some of the other signs we saw and he couldn't see many of them. I finally got him an appointment and he definitely needed glasses.

He only had two concerns, the first was that he really wanted them at the beginning of the new school so that they other kids would always know him with glasses. He also said he was worried about looking like a nerd because the other kids at school already always tell him how smart he is and now glasses will make him look more like a nerd. I assured him that we would find some non-nerdy glasses.
The first day he had them, we asked if he could read the street sign and he did but then told us he could read that anyway without his glasses. Then he took them off and tried to read it and said, "actually, no, I can't see it!" He also came home with the glasses and showed everyone and then said, "now I'm going to put them away." I guess he hadn't realized that he was now going to be wearing glasses all the time for the rest of his life!
I think he is pretty cute in his glasses and he is used to them already!

Out of Order

I have switched the internet over to the kids computer which has its own share of problems but is at least faster and I can load pictures so I will finally starting blogging about the last couple months. It will take me a while and it will be out of order but I'll try and get it all on here in the next couple of weeks, at least as much as I can remember!
So to start: here is a random picture of a project the boys created this summer on their own and insisted I take pictures of!

Tucker's Girlfriend

Since I still can't get my pictures onto my computer, I'm using the pictures that Jodi sent to me! This is from a birthday party at the Livermore pool. Now I'm not usually the type to go around talking about my young kids having boyfriends and girlfriends, that type of thing, but this time its too cute to avoid! Tucker actually has two little girlfriends, one Sunday they were all out during Sacrament meeting and they followed each other around copying everything each other did. They also give each other hugs as soon as they see each other and feed each other snacks. This time he happens to be with Hailee (I'm not sure if I spelled that right but I'm too lazy to check!) and we are going to miss her and her family a lot after we move. Today at the park I heard him calling out and was trying to figure out what he was saying until I realized that he was excited to see her walking up from the parking lot!

At the pool they both spent some time jumping in to the 1 ft deep area.

They were laughing and having fun laying down in the water.

and of course one of their hugs, they hug each other several times a day when they are together! I hope we stay in contact and we can show this picture to them when they are teenagers!

no pictures

I haven't posted in a while because my computer is down again and I've been waiting to be able to post some pictures. I think my computer is actually fixed now but I won't be able to get to it for a little while and thought I better just do an update. So for those of you that actually read what I write as opposed to just glancing at the pictures, here's the scoop:

  • We went camping with several of our friends at the end of july, really dirty, but a lot of fun and there will be a post at some point!
  • I've mentioned it before, but in case you didn't know, we are moving back to the Sac. area. Sam's company transferred him up there and we have been house hunting but also living in two places in the meantime
  • The boys will be starting school up there so I will be separate from them a lot but they are excited to be with Sam's family
  • This is a crazy housing market and we have put in 2 offers but it can sometimes take weeks or months to find out, but luckily we just found out one of our offers was accepted so as long as everything goes according to plan, we have a house
  • OK, I'm sure there is more but that is all I can remember right now, I'll have to check the camera, so until then, have a great weekend!

school papers

A few weeks before school started, we sorted through the mounds of school papers and projects we had for the year to choose which ones to keep. Kolby was so interested in reading a lot of his that we had to sort his for him. Look at how much paper there is and this is only a small fraction of what came home. I through away most of the everyday papers as they came home!
