August Facebook Status Updates

Wednesday, August 8
Despite the AC breaking and the kids not eating the muffins I stayed up last night to make for their breakfast and Sam being out of town, we are still off to a great start on the first day of school!

One of my favorite memories with Kendra and all the girls, we took a trip to the Oakland temple and Ikea and even though Kendra and someone else were pregnant, the YSA bishop invited us to his ward!

Sunday, August 19
I'm starting to gather some pictures of the years we spent hanging out and raising our kids together, sadly most of the pictures are of our kids without the moms but here are a few that I have found....such happy memories even if it's just a few of many!

Great to see old friends and to remember Kendra together, even if it was such sad circumstances that brought us together

Thursday, August 23
I never knew I could feel so many emotions in one days time until today, I laughed and cried and ached and rejoiced and despite the sadness of the loss of my very dear friend I am so grateful that we got to celebrate her life today and to begin to heal with friends that knew her like I did and for her truly amazing husband who offered the best and sweetest example of all, they were truly lucky to have each other and their 4 sweet kids!

I think I'm done with this week already, besides still being very emotional, my house has hit 92 degrees with the AC broken for two days, the boy I watch threw up in my car and my phone fell to the tile and shattered and my husband is out of town and those are just the big things...is there a reset button?

Walking a goat

One day at the park, this random guy was walking his pet goat.  The kids loved it!

Puzzles and Games

This is what happens often when you have a room without much furniture....and they insist I take a picture everytime they do a bunch of puzzles.  We have also had many hours of scum this summer in various forms and I'm really happy they have invited their sister into the game!

Domestic summertime

I guess we were feeling quite domestic this summer, here are some of the projects we worked on!

Jordan and Kolby decided to make a coffee cake for breakfast one morning
I made home-made cheeze-its that were pretty good....
A bunch of banana bread....
homemade (healthier) fruit snacks a few times, we are still working on getting the right mix down for these....
a pinterest project that I've been wanting to do except that I didn't make tile coasters, we wanted to do something that would absorb the condensation so I found these scouring sponges at the dollar store and cut them up and glued them to a thin cutting board mat....
some home-made, whole wheat graham crackers which were delicious, we all loved them and they will definitely be made again....
Jordan made himself some biscuits and gravy....
And Eden and Tucker helped lick the brownie bowl clean!!!

Walt and Freddy

(adding this first picture, not the same trip, but around the same time, Tucker loves this new ride in Cars Land and wanted to ride with Grandma and Grandpa for his first try)

When Sam's parents were driving back through on their way home from Arizona, we decided to run over to Disneyland with them.  It was nice to walk around the newly opened areas of California Adventure and see what has been updated.  This is the new Walt statue in the entrance area.

We weren't ready to wait in the long lines for Cars Land but we did get to walk around and see everything and the really cool background that almost looks real.

As we were sitting in Cars Land waiting for the neon lights to come on someone asked Sam to take their picture with this guy.  Sam looked and realized that it was Freddy from iCarly (a kid show that Sam happens to love) and so he agreed only if he could get a picture too.  He then asked me to take the picture of them and asked if I recognized him and I had no idea who he was!  When I did finally figure it out I had to admit that he looks much better in person than he does on the show!
We made our way over to Tommorowland and I was quite proud of my score on Buzz Lightyear!  I made it to the top ten for the day!
Notice my score in third place!!!!

Nicki's house

We were able to spend some time with Nicki's family before we headed home.  The kids all went out to catch water balloons when we first got there.

Sam and Chad were launching them out to the kids!

That evening Sam and Chad went to watch the fights and Nicki and I had fun eating at a yummy pita restaurant and doing a bunch of second hand shopping.  It was fun to get to spend some individual time with them and I know the kids had fun back at their house.

On Sunday we got to be a part of Casey's ordination to the Aaronic Priesthood.  Of course I didn't take any pictures during church but I realized I wanted to remember to blog about it so I grabbed Courtney and Eden for a quick picture before we headed out the door!

Sourdough and Glitter

It wouldn't be a reunion without ending with sourdough pancakes plus grandma did glitter tattoos for all the grandkids!

Friday evening

Friday night was the adult dinner, hopefully I can add the picture of all of us together but in the meantime I at least have a picture of Sam and I that night!

A few months back, Nate lost a family competition and part of the consequence was to provide dessert for everyone.  Even though we weren't camping anymore, they stuck with the campfire dessert by using the fire pit in Mandi's backyard.  It was hard to get a good picture but most of the kids didn't last too long by the fire but a few of the older ones stuck it out!
We did manage to squeeze in our traditional game of scum even though it was a little bit late at night which may have made a certain sister-in-law become very giggly!

Also, the traditonal "make the cards touch while your dealing them to freak Sam out" was not forgotten!

Friday afternoon at the reunion

There is not much to tell, just pictures to remember Friday afternoon, the women all got "Glitter Toes" during the downtime and then we all headed to the pool.  It was just fun to spend time together!
