Chess belt loop

My fellow leaders and I decided to take turns teaching a belt loop each month.  I was first and I picked the easiest possible one for me, chess!  I actually know almost nothing about chess, but my boys are almost experts and were more than happy to teach the whole thing!   The cub scouts were quite impressed with the large Chess set and fought over who would get to use it after the demonstration but surprisingly almost all of them already knew how to play chase and had fun playing their own games.  Even Eden and another cub scout's little sister joined in with their own games and Jordan loved being an "expert!'

a little garage Sale

One day Eden and Tucker were supposed to be cleaning their room.  After a little while, Eden came down saying she had a pile of stuff she was going to sell at a garage sale.  I told her to make a list and I would tell her which things were OK to sell.  She came down with this list along with her idea of prices.  I crossed off a few things she had listed and this is what she had left.  She also had a list for Tucker.  I humored her and told her to put the OK things in a bag in the garage and was hoping she would forget about it.  If you know Eden at all, you know that once she has determined to do something, there is no stopping her.  Every Saturday for the next couple of weeks she asked to do it.  We usually had things going on so it wouldn't work.  Finally one Saturday afternoon, she decided that she didn't care if it was too late in the day for a garage sale, she was going to have it.  She and Tucker laid out all of their stuff and made signs.  I heard from the boys that Tucker was even doing a garage sale dance while he held up the sign for passer-bys.  Of course we are almost at a dead-end and it was in the afternoon, not to mention their prices were a bit on the high side so they didn't get any business for the hour they were out there, but they didn't care and Eden still plans to do it again sometime!

Valentine Day Continued

Eden's teacher sent me this picture of her jumping rope for "Jump for the Heart" on Valentine's Day.
Tucker and I stopped to "Heart Attack" Sam's car.  Tucker loved being sneaky! And then we headed to his Kindergarten ready doctor's appointment.  He loved this rug on the waiting room and had to walk around the whole thing several times saying what he was stepping on.
After school they spread out their loot to see what they had and to share with the poor middle school kid that doesn't get to have Valentine's parties anymore!
I thought my grandma's heart necklace was the perfect accessory for the day!
We had a special dinner with candles and the red tablecloth and a little Kenny G playing in the background just to add to the cheesiness factor!

On the menu was some pink mashed potatoes that the kids were tempted to play with because it looked like play-dough! We also had pork chops, tomato and cucumber salad, strawberries and heart shaped biscuits.
Eden formed hers into a snowman!

Valentine Morning

Now that it has been over a month, it's probably time to get the Valentine's posts up.  Our Valentine morning was fun.  Eden and Tucker were all set with their straw Valentine's, I loved that Eden's teachers actually requested no candy with the Valentine's since I was already planning on that anyway! Jordan and Kolby took store bought Valentine's that I had from previous years clearance and Jordan said he was the only one that didn't have candy, but he did have a cool Valentine.
They woke up to candy and donuts on the table.  It was funny because Sam had run to the store the night before and also came home with donuts not knowing that I already had some....the kids didn't mind!  I came down to a Valentine candy gram.  I know I've made a lot of them in my life but this may actually be the first one I've ever received and I loved it!
Tucker showed off the donut with the words in Spanish.  Those were the only heart shaped one's left in the store on the night before the holiday!
The kids set to work immediately dividing out their spoils equally.
And I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast made by my favorite Valentine!

Eden wanted me to do the hearts in her hair that I always do, but was in a hurry and did not like how long it was taking so they're a little bit loose, she also didn't want to stick around for a picture.

Nerd day

The kids were excited for "nerd day" at school, probably mostly because it is not much of a stretch for them anyway....Jordan got to wear all of his favorite things!

Handsomeness

Having a bunch of older brothers, all Tucker ever wants to wear is character t-shirts.  It's funny because when the other boys were little I almost completely avoided those, but it's just not happening that way with this one!  When picture day came, I talked him into wearing something different.  He did it for picture day even though he has no idea that I don't actually ever buy the pictures!  When he put the shirt on I told him to go look in the mirror and see how handsome he was.  I heard him in there say something like "I DO look handsome, you're right!"  Now you do get to see the picture they took because it is that kind that they send home and then you have to send it back and of course he does look quite handsome even though they didn't get him to smile!

Straightened

Kolby has been asking to have his hair straightened for a while, so I finally gave it a try one morning really fast.  This is the best we could do....still fluffy but less curl!

Lucky brother

I love to see those times when the kids are getting along and helping each other.  I especially think Tucker is lucky to have such great older brothers.  These are just some recent pictures that I was messing around with, of his brothers being so sweet to him!

I just love the look on his face above, he is so happy!

Meet-up

We found out that some friends of ours were at Disneyland the same time we were there so Sam arranged to meet up with them.  I grew up with Sabrina all the way from elementary school and she and Sam were friends in drama in high school.  I think he may have even gone to a dance with her.  Anyway, it was fun to meet up and meet her husband and chat for a little bit.  One of the fun things that never would have happened without facebook!

60

It all started a few months ago when Sam made the comment to his mom, "dad's turning 60 next year, what are we going to do?"  The plan changed several times, all revolving around trying to find a way for him to be around his kids for his birthday.  There was talk about driving up to Sac and surprising him but it was looking like it would be a challenge for most to make that happen.  Finally, they decided to be down here at Disneyland for his birthday and Nicki and Mandi were going to surprise him by being at our house when they got back.  Then they found out McKay could come, even better and it changed to a surprise meeting for dinner at Downtown Disney.  Then McKay said, if we are right there, why aren't we going to Disneyland.  Sam said that we couldn't all by tickets and McKay said he could get us all in with his Pixar passes.   Then we started to get excited and planned to surprise him inside the park instead of out and then hang out there Friday night.  Mandi, who hasn't been to Disneyland in 4 years, realized that instead of going in for a few hours Friday night, she would rather go in all day on Saturday so we were back to dinner at Downtown Disney but the park all day Saturday.  Then even Deveren realized he could make it so all they were missing was Nate.   So the Friday night after everyone arrived at our house we headed over to the Rainforest Cafe and waited for him to arrive.  We got a picture of all the kids together and then headed to our table with just Deia and Eli on the lookout who were sent ahead to get a table.   If you see in the picture above, Deia was watching for them and Eli through the fish tank.
Finally he arrived, and boy was he surprised.  I tried to catch a picture from when he first saw everyone but it wasn't clear, but basically he held the same look of surprise/excitement on his face for almost 10 minutes.

We had a really fun dinner together and then headed down through Downtown Disney.  Then Sam gave them the idea that three people could still go that night with McKay into the park.   That left just us out so we took Deia, who wasn't feeling well, home and the rest of them were able to spend Friday evening in the park as well.

Saturday morning we left bright and early around 6 am to make sure we were first in line for California Adventure. The season pass holders got to go in early and left us there waiting at the gate so we took this picture to say "what's up with that?!!" but it didn't really phase them!
We hit Radiator Springs Racers first of course!
By the time we made it to Toys Story, the rest of the group joined us.  They were able to talk Grandma Borgia into all the rides and their wheelchairs helped us get ahead on most of them!

These are the pictures from Screamin'.   Sam said that Grandma said "we are going up, that means we have to go down soon!"
A little Star Tours action!

And then the jungle cruise!
And of course we had some fun with our Space Mountain picture!
By closing time Saturday night, we were all exhausted! But it was so fun to be together and Mandi, Deveren and Nicki even talked McKay into taking them again the next day before they headed home!
Meanwhile, back at the house Eden and Tucker were having fun with their cousins.  On Friday night they both stayed back, Isaac came to Disneyland on Saturday but the kids at home had a great time. They spent a lot of time playing with the superhero toys and  I guess they must have played with Jordan's ipod because I found the second two pictures there!
