June Facebook status updates

I just posted the 1000th post on my blog, check it out if you're interested (but remember it's not meant to be anything spectacular, just fun family memories)
I love any pic in Disneyland... Indiana Jones Ride. We went down for Sam's mascot competition — with Sam Farley and 2 others at Disneyland. (1995)

Happy birthday to the wonderful, fun, sweet, crazy guy! He found a fun surprise when he got to his office this morning, including this get-up!

My 5-year old grandson told me today was his Dad's birthday. I told him I was there when his Dad was born. His eyes got big and he said "you were?"

I thought summers were supposed to be relaxed, this week feels busier than the school year! Meetings every night for something or other, cub camp, a birthday, dr's appt, out of town guests, a garage sale this weekend, all things I happily signed up for just usually not all at once!

Spring Soccer

It seems like ages ago now already, but we had fun participating in Spring Soccer.  I actually made Kolby play because he did not have a great experience his first time around in the Fall.  This time was definitely a lot better, he had a really nice coach and he got to be with two good friends.  He still doesn't want to do it again, but I'm glad he got to see some of the fun side this time.  Eden loved it as usual, loved practice, loved the games and had a one goal. I'm glad she has something to do that she loves so much and I also had fun visiting with friends while we waited during practice or watching the games!

Jordan wanted Sam to be a chaperone on his 6th grade field trip because he is the "fun dad!" Sam didn't mind taking a day off work and going to Knott's Berry Farm!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was very nice this year.  I got breakfast in bed and some nice gifts.  Sam had taken the kids to Kohl's to choose a present for me, apparently they looked around for a while in the clothes and couldn't really find anything.  Tucker told me he wanted to get me some disco pants but dad said no!   After church, we had Sam's grandma over and our friends, the Galley's who were in town for the weekend.  Sam made a nice steak dinner, we had a ton of food and a great time hanging out and catching up.

Girl time!

The best part about the Father's and Son's campout is that Eden and I get to have a girls weekend!  The first thing she wanted to do was swim at the pool.  It was even more fun to find some friends already there to hang out with! Then we headed over to meet a couple of friends at TGIFridays and afterwards we did some shopping, even though she wanted me to buy her a lot of things that I wouldn't, it was still fun to shop with her now that she is getting older and enjoys looking and stuff and sharing opinions, I'm looking forward to years of shopping together!

She took most of these pictures and designed this post picture herself!

Fathers and Sons

Usually I have to push Sam to get a picture or two from something like the Father's and Sons Campout but this time he took a ton of pictures and this isn't even all of them.  Of course they all had a great time, they love camping out with dad and being with their friends!
The boys, mostly the Deacons, had fun playing cards...

Tucker and his little friend Aaron always have a great time together...

And Sam came in 2nd place in the marshmallow contest!

Eden had been asking Sam for a long time to teach her to ride her bike but it was just one of those things he never got to so she just decided to figure it out herself, and she hopped on and did it!  That's just how Eden rolls!

Switched at birth

Sam was asked to represent his company at a Deaf expo and particularly to be the personal interpreter for Katie LeClerc from the ABC family show "Switched at Birth."  If you've never seen the show it's about to girls that were switched at birth and discover this when they are teenagers and she plays a deaf girl so she is quite a celebrity in the Deaf community.  There were lines out the building to meet her.  She is actually not deaf and has come a long way in her sing language skills but she still needed to have Sam around in case and to sort of act as bodyguard too!  Sam had fun hanging out with her for the day, he said she was so nice and took the time to visit with everyone that waited in line.  The two of them decided to take a bunch of crazy, and prom type pictures when they were just hanging out!

Carnival time

I was doubly involved in the school carnival this year again, working with the PTA to get the volunteers and working with the cub scouts.  The cub scouts sold kettle corn and caramel corn as usual and this year with Sam as cubmaster, he was a lot more involved.  I was really impressed with a lot of the cub families, many of them stayed around the whole time and the whole families got involved.

It was hard to keep track of these little two with Sam and Kolby doing popcorn, Brady and Jordan each volunteering at a carnival game and I was at the volunteer table getting them signed up, but it looks like they had fun.  They got to hang out with some friends and I caught up with them later to get some pictures.
