White Elephant

After a 4 year break, we finally hosted another one of our annual White Elephant Parties.  The picture above is the full shot of what we used in our gift....Sam didn't mind posing at Five Guys for that shot!

I think everyone had a lot of fun and there were some great gifts but of course I didn't take any pictures!  I actually texted my friends that took home our gifts that night so I could get a picture of something to post!  Our first gift is the pig collection!  The pig sings and dances to "I'm too sexy" and we incuded some bacon pop rocks, bacon toothpaste and bacon air freshener.

This next picture shows our friend scaring his kids with the duck dynasty costume he took home!

And this is our other gift...a really cool hamburger shirt and hat hamburger hat along with this amazing picture of Sam eating a burger!  At least we were nice enough to include an In 'n Out gift card!

There were some other cool gifts, too many to name, but I did snag this picture from a friend's instagram feed after the party!  Hopefully, we will keep up this tradition again now that we've finally done it down here, because we have such a good time!

Tucker's birthday

Tucker turned seven and we enjoyed the day as a family.  Well, Sam had to work but we made sure to open presents before Sam left and then he was able to meet us for lunch at TGI Fridays.   Tucker's main gift was Disney Infinity 2.0 Avengers.

Tucker picked Kolby and Eden to come to lunch with him!
After lunch, the kids met some friends at the school playground and had fun hanging out with them for a while. (Tucker's hands are showing off his new birthday shirt from the birthday box.

The boys were with me at the store the day before and decided that we should get Tucker his own little cake.  He loved it of course!

Tucker wanted homemade pizza for his birthday dinner, and Kolby was so nice to volunteer to make the pizzas.  He had recently learned to make them in his home ec. class at school so he was excited to use his new skills!

Jordan's birthday

Jordan is the only lucky kid that gets to open his presents as midnight.  As soon as all the friends left, he insisted! Brady and Tucker gave Jordan some Batman pajamas.
Kolby gave him a 24 pack of Root Beer and I think it was his favorite present overall, well besides my old iphone to replace my older all cracked iphone he had been using as an ipod for the last 2 years.
He, and everyone, enjoyed the chair from Grandma and Grandpa Astle and he is of course saving his gift card from Grandma and Grandpa Farley.
We also gave him this towel, he had requested a great big towel of his own!

He has been talking about going to Wood Ranch for his birthday for almost a year so I headed over there with the three boys and they had some goofy fun!

New Years Eve

I was a little sad that we didn't really have anyone to do anything with for New Years Eve but then the boys decided they didn't really want to go to the dance, they had gone to a pre New Year's dance at Scandia the night before and that was enough for one week!  Instead, we invited some of their friends over last minute and they had a lot of fun playing games.  I gave Kolby my phone to take pictures and this is what he came up with!

Christmas Service

This year was Sam's turn to be in charge of the family service project.  Because of the passing of his Grandma Farley this last year, he decided to do a project in her honor so we asked everyone to do projects that involved art or to donate to the BYU museum of Art in her name. Not only did we give it to Sam's dad to open on Christmas this year, we also gave it to his Grandpa and this is the picture we got of him holding the letter that explained it.   I also wanted to add these two pictures that we have that she painted.  The first one is Eden, she told us she had painted the flower and just felt like the picture needed more so she added Eden in.  The second picture is one she gave us when Sam said he would like one of her pictures to hang in our house.

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

I don't have much in the way of pictures, but it snowed here in SoCal in the almost desert just after Christmas and it was all the talk here.  I know this is nothing exciting for most of the rest of the country but it was pretty fun to see it coming down and people were out playing in it in the middle of the night.  It was also nice to see the view on the mountains for the next couple of days.
