The trip begins: Arizona and New Mexico

This summer we set out on our epic 17 state trip!  Sam was a little worried about how it would be with everyone in the car so long, but it turned out great.  We enjoyed being able to take our time and stop and see sights and friends and we saw every movie from Redbox that we were even slightly interested in seeing and then some.  There was even only minimal fighting and besides several of us passing around a 1 day stomach sickness, everything went smoothly.   The first night we picked up Brady and Jordan from youth conference and headed out to Arizona. We were supposed to arrive at Nicki's house around midnight but a major road closure didn't get us in until 2 in the morning.  Then we were up bright and early the next morning to head to the Grand Canyon.  It was so nice to have this basket for our luggage on the back of the car that Deveren made and Sam and Brady became expert at getting the loaded and unloaded by the end of the trip!

I got out with the kids to take their first peak at the Grand Canyon while Sam looked for parking.  I think everyone was impressed except Jordan.

Eden and Tucker enjoyed watching the performance that was going on.
Next we headed to the Four Corners Monument and waited patiently in line for our turn with maybe a little bit of wrestling going on after having been in the car for so many hours! (More pictures at the end with our various poses trying to hit all 4 states)

Sam decided that we need a picture with each state sign.  If you ask the kids, they will say this is their least favorite part of the trip but I think they'll enjoy the pictures when they look back!
Next we headed to Farmington, NM to stay for the night but first a stop at Outback for some dinner.  Jordan enjoyed the fact that they brought him an adult cup and Brady a kid cup even though they both ordered adult food and Brady is older!

I was the first one to get sick, I woke up early throwing up at the hotel so this was my view of the family heading off to breakfast and packing the car while I tried to rest a little longer!

I had a very uncomfortable drive to Albuquerque and Tucker also started to get sick along the way but he still managed to get out of the car and get a picture with the other kids at the temple.  The last one was them pointing at me in the car since I didn't feel like getting out.

More pictures at Four Corners, the AZ sign and when Sam joined us at the Grand Canyon

Much needed Disney Date

Sam had an interpreting assignment in Orange County and we decided last minute that it was the perfect time for me to run out their and meet him to take care of some bank business in between his assignments.   At that point we realized, why not just head to Disneyland when he was done, so we did and we had a much needed date night!  It had been such a crazy, chaotic time with the changing job stress and Sam working non-stop that it was so refreshing to get away even if the park was pretty crowded!   I'm glad he thought of it!

Independence Day

Sam was interpreting at Disneyland on the 4th of July so we kept it low key.  We headed to the breakfast at the church and then some lunch at Carl's Jr and fireworks in the sky near our house and the party in the court across the street!
